According to Dennis Bratcher, “The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent. Thus, Advent is far more than simply marking a 2,000 year old event in history. It is celebrating a truth about God, the revelation of God in Christ whereby all of creation might be reconciled to God.”
The meaning of advent is somehow being practiced even with the current time. For us advent is the time when we all gather together for some wonderful feast and with so many colorful home decorations. It is the time when we honor the coming of the Lord. It is also one of the few Christian festivals that can be observed at home and at church. During this season, mostly kids are enjoying because of the soothing and lively spirit that the season brings.
Most people are enjoying the festivity with some colorful decorations at home. The celebration is complete if there are door wreaths hanging, Advent lights, candles and even decorated trees to lighten up the mood of every Christian. But mostly Advent wreaths are the symbolic decorations that we usually see during this time of the year, because it represents the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Speaking of wreaths, the ring like structure is the best wall art during the Advent. It might not be that stunning but we may create something that would catch the attention of those who have the heart for true artistry. We may also add outdoor wreaths to our patio to add color and substance to the exterior part of our home.
But according to some interior designers, wreaths are also perfect for other celebrations and events like Thanksgiving and birthdays. We just have to create something that suits the occasion. With our creativity, we can do whatever we want to make wreaths go with every occasion.
