Celebrating the Advent Season by Decorating Holiday Wreaths

According to Dennis Bratcher, “The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent. Thus, Advent is far more than simply marking a 2,000 year old event in history. It is celebrating a truth about God, the revelation of God in Christ whereby all of creation might be reconciled to God.”

The meaning of advent is somehow being practiced even with the current time. For us advent is the time when we all gather together for some wonderful feast and with so many colorful home decorations. It is the time when we honor the coming of the Lord. It is also one of the few Christian festivals that can be observed at home and at church. During this season, mostly kids are enjoying because of the soothing and lively spirit that the season brings.

Most people are enjoying the festivity with some colorful decorations at home. The celebration is complete if there are door wreaths hanging, Advent lights, candles and even decorated trees to lighten up the mood of every Christian. But mostly Advent wreaths are the symbolic decorations that we usually see during this time of the year, because it represents the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaking of wreaths, the ring like structure is the best wall art during the Advent. It might not be that stunning but we may create something that would catch the attention of those who have the heart for true artistry. We may also add outdoor wreaths to our patio to add color and substance to the exterior part of our home.

But according to some interior designers, wreaths are also perfect for other celebrations and events like Thanksgiving and birthdays. We just have to create something that suits the occasion. With our creativity, we can do whatever we want to make wreaths go with every occasion.

Christmas Wreaths

Christmas is the time when we all gather to decorate our living space with different Yuletide decorations. When the most important month of the year comes, we ought to seek for different home interior decorations that would really compliment our design at home. It would be a lot of work for us because we try many things to create something that would be a great contribution to our holiday home improvement activity. As for the usual Christmas decorations, we have the tree, lights, lanterns, mistletoes and candles. With all these common ornaments for Christmas, we can actually try to pair it with wreaths.

Wreath is formed with the use of flowers, twigs, plants and other materials that we can find to create a ring like structure that symbolizes the coming of Christ. With this great interior invention, we can pair the common Christmas embellishments to make a different yet stunning holiday home improvement design. We need to choose colors like, green, red, silver and gold to give an exact holiday feel for the wreaths.

There are three types of Christmas wreaths, namely, artificial, fresh and dried wreaths. Though they have the same purpose, they may vary in some ways considering that they are built with different materials

Artificial Wreaths

This particular type of wreath can still be functional for about 5-10 years. Even with minimal maintenance, artificial wreaths can stand the test of time and will still look as good as new for a long period of time. The best assets of artificial wreaths are durability, flexibility of usage and of course, the price.

Fresh Christmas Wreaths

Unlike its artificial counterpart, the fresh Christmas wreaths need some more attention since it is delicate in many ways. However, for a more eco-friendly approach of decorating your home this coming holiday, fresh evergreens wreaths such as holly, ivy and pine is the best choice.

Dried wreaths

This type on the other hand have great concept which is made of withered twigs and plants. Dried wreaths also offer less maintenance and have unique colors and shapes. To add a new twist to your Christmas, using dried wreaths is also an ideal choice.

We can also try to combine all three types to create a fascinating Christmas design inside the house. If properly used, home owners can actually transform their homes to have that great Yuletide look and feel to anyone who comes inside or even to the passerby.

Christmas is the best time of the year and we should all participate and enjoy the yuletide season. Enjoy decorating and Happy Christmas!

Wreaths

Wreaths are formed with the assortment of flowers, plants, twigs, leaves, small fruits and various materials to form a ring-shaped house decor. They are normally used during Christmas for it symbolizes the coming of Christ. For it to be wonderfully placed inside the house, we can have our wreath attached on our walls and the doors of our home. Holiday wreaths are normally decorated with shimmering materials like silver or gold dusts. We can also pair it with ribbons, decorative candles and mistletoes to complete the wonderful Christmas wreaths.

The beauty of wreaths doesn’t end up during the yuletide season. There are also other times when wreaths are not only useful during the advent season. We can also use it as sympathy gifts during funerals. We may choose the right flowers to pair with the sympathy wreath. We can use Kalanchoe, orchid plants, Campanula and Violet plants to pair with other materials that we want to decorate on our wreaths. It would be nice to express sympathy by offering wreaths to someone who is in a challenging situation.

There are also some holidays that welcome the beauty of the ring like Christmas decoration. With the use of our creativity, we can make something that will not only be useful during Christmas but also on other holidays like, Lenten season, Valentines, birthdays, Thanksgiving and even in times when someone is on a recovery state. If we just think of something that we can do to create a perfect gift using our wreath, there are so many ideas that we can pull up on the web. But we may want to add our personal touch on it.

Bouquets of flowers are normal gifts that we usually offer to our loved ones. But we may want to create something new that could get their attention. With the proper materials and colors chosen, we can definitely create a gift that will not be only useful on one occasion but can be also used during anytime of the year. With our imagination, we can put up something that maybe appealing to one’s eyes.

Yuletide Decoration Ideas

Decorating our house has been a necessity for home improvement enthusiast like me. It is like my greatest goal to create a unique interior design that would attract attention to guests whenever there is an occasion being celebrated at home. There are somewhat loads of decorating ideas in my mind that are not yet taken into consideration. But I see to it that it will be on my future articles when the ideas are successfully placed into action.

25" Jolly Christmas Wreath

For now, I want to share some decorating ideas during Christmas. As we all know, we only have few weeks left to make some yuletide preparation. When we check online there are so many Christmas decoration ideas that really have a big impact to the masses. But on my end, I can only give some simple yet very practical ways of involving ourselves to the annual holiday celebration.

16" Preserved Boxwood Door Wreath

Take for example Christmas wreaths. Wreath is a ring like designed plant for decoration. This is a perfect interior decoration idea for our home during Christmas. We can pair this unique interior creation with red ribbons, poinsettias, mistletoes and candles. It would be also possible to make dried wreaths. We just have to find some weathered withered plants. It would also be perfect to choose what kind of plants we are going to use for our wreaths.

Another one is the candle holder. It is not as simple as the holiday wreaths but somehow it gives great interior accent to our dining tables, center tables and counters. We can have it painted with gold or silver to give a holiday feel. We can also pair it with ribbons and red candles for more accents.

18" Snowflake Fresh Holiday Wreath

Another unique holiday decoration is the illuminated planter. We can have different colors of luminous light for our planters. But for Christmas we can have green, red and yellow together to create a wonderful yuletide experience.

With the three holiday interior decoration ideas, we do have lesser expenses but the same holiday experience. Happy Christmas and a phosphorus New Year!

Decoration tips for Christmas

When the last month of the year comes, we are all excited to see the bright lights and glittering decorations that are covering parts of our homes. December is always the month when people get to be very busy with all the holiday activities that are being planned annually. But of all the activities, decorating our home is the best contribution that we can offer to the Yuletide season.

There are so many decorating ideas that are available online. Home improvement enthusiasts are sharing so many Christmas decorating tips to those who have not yet started their holiday preparations. There are also common Christmas decorations that can be replaced with new ideas. Wreaths for example can be perfect not just for the walls of our home but also for the doors. It can be magnificent if holiday wreaths are designed with mistletoes, poinsettias and candles. Ribbons would make a great accent for it too. We can also create dried wreaths to make some exotic and different blend of colors in our home. Showing some withered like colors of twigs and leaves will give a great feel of nature in our home.

Christmas candle holder is also a small piece of interior decoration during Christmas. It can give accent to our home if it is paired with red candles and if it is painted with silver or gold. It is best to place the holiday candle holder on the dining table, counter, center piece and piano if there is any.

Another great addition to our yuletide decoration is a terrarium. It is an aquarium like structure but we can do loads of decorating ideas to make it a great accent to any occasions. We can have an option to hang it on the ceiling to make it look like a lantern. Designing the glass container by placing small angel figurines and miniature Christmas trees would put color on our terrariums

The most unique interior Christmas decoration that I had seen so far is the mini Christmas tree made of a pine cone. It may not be the big tree that we are accustomed to decorate but it also shares great home improvement accent ideas and it shows artistry if placed anywhere in our home. We can give an impressive look to the Christmas pine cone tree if we put gold dusts on every tip of the scales. We can also place mini star at the top of the cone to make it look like a real Christmas tree but on a smaller size.

All the ideas mentioned above are simple yet they are of big significance to make our holiday lives meaningful.

Wreaths for Christmas

I love Christmas! Everybody loves Christmas. Who doesn’t love the most sought after holiday of the year? Christmas is simply the time when family and friends reunite. It is the time when people are not thinking of themselves. It is the season when we make up with those lost times that we spent with our loved ones.

When the yuletide season comes, we are always excited to greet it with our preparations like holiday home improvements, treats and parties. We normally gather our friends and loved ones to help us decorate our living space with the Advent season decorations. From outdoor wreaths to the indoor Christmas trees, we can create something special that would make ourselves feel the spirit of Christmas.

Putting some ornaments and having them glow in our home during Christmas is really eye-feasting. It would give us the holiday ambience that we keep on waiting the whole year round. There are wide selections of Christmas decorations but fresh Christmas wreaths are the things that we first see when we get inside our home. As we all know, wreaths symbolize the coming of the Lord also known as the Advent season. They are attached to our doors that welcome positive vibes to anyone looking at them. It would be best to have our special wreaths filled with different colored decorations like miniature candy canes, golden and silver bells, miniature red apples and ribbons. Wreaths can also be wall decorations that would add significance to a dull and boring household. If we go visit some retail stores that offer holiday wreaths, they would show us some wide selections of these ring-like Christmas decors. There are wall, door and outdoor wreaths that are available in our local shops. We can also seek for the store clerk's advice on what type of wreath that best compliment our home.

As Christmas gets closer, our excitement also increases. Many of us would buy gifts weeks before the big Christian Holiday. But decorating our home is one of the best parts of our yuletide season lives. So stay happy and participate in the holiday season with some wide arrays of Christmas home decorations. Happy Christmas!

Holiday Wreaths as home Improvement Ideas

We may think of so many things to do about decorating our home during the yuletide season. If we check online, Christmas decorations are everywhere. And we do have a hard time selecting the right decorations to our house. We may have our traditional and artificial Christmas trees, lights, mistletoes, night stars, Christmas Belen and other Christmas decorating stuff to fill up our home. With this said, there is one Christmas home improvement idea that most people really don’t miss to use during the holiday season. We call it the Christmas wreath.

Wreaths are normally hand crafted and are placed on walls and doors of our homes. They are sometimes paired with candles, mistletoes and ribbons. Wreaths can basically create a great impression in our house during Christmas. As quoted on Wikipedia, “Wreaths are used typically as Christmas decorations to symbolize the coming of Christ, also known as the Advent season in Christianity.” If we check online there are so many definitions given for this wonderful holiday decoration.

Christmas wreaths can be custom made or we can check our local store and have some wide selections of the ring like yuletide decoration. These options would depend on the availability and our ability to own one. It can be that we have the materials but we do not have the perfect talent to create it. We can hire someone to do the work for us but the thing is, it might be more expensive than buying one in our local retail stores. However, prefabricated holiday wreaths may not fit with the concept of our Christmas decorations. But I do believe that we can do whatever we want with it so as long as we plan it carefully as not to waste our money and time creating or purchasing the wrong product.

Wreath is one Christmas decoration that we can share to our family and friends. It may not fill up the required number of decorations in our home but it can be one of the best that we got this Advent season.

Easy Gardening Ideas with Flower box

There are so many options for us to choose from when we talk about gardening ideas. But sometimes we have difficulty selecting which one is the best for our household theme. Sometimes friends can give perfect suggestions on how we can make our home look gorgeous. And it would be an unbiased advice if it comes from a person who does not live in your house. There are also tips online and these tips really helped me a lot. I have tried to compare ideas with so many people and I have come up with something different myself.

Flower box is a unique gardening idea that mostly urban residents are enjoying. It is not the typical bed garden that is structured on your backyard. These boxes can be installed on your window sills, indoor gardens and patios. Just a couple of bountiful flowering plant and the appropriate soil can give you a pleasant gardening box. Some flower shops have come up selling ready made flower boxes that go with installation instructions. We just have to follow the instructions on how to install it on our windows or garden spaces at home.

Hanging baskets are actually a classic gardening method. But garden enthusiasts tried to develop and created some pots with hanging options. Somehow they did a great job of giving us choice on how are we going to use our gardening resources. This method is the easiest for me because we only need one pot or basket to maintain. Unlike the traditional garden that we have, it is like yards of plants to handle every gardening activity. Another good thing about hanging baskets is our option to transfer pot anywhere we want and we can make garden arrangements anytime of the day.

Planter box is another garden structure that most modern homes use. It can be like a big box of wood or hard plastic that we can place on our patios and house lobbies. It can also be stunning indoors like in our living rooms and dining areas. Bigger plants fit well on this. Some try Bonsai trees to go with the planters. There is a planter box type that is really a hit in modern home development. It is the illuminated planter box. Best feature of this box is the light bright atmosphere that it brings during night time or on dark rooms or areas of the house. Another thing about this wonderful creation is the selection of different colors that fit the occasion and the concept of our homes.

The above three gardening ideas are my favorites. I hope you have one favorite gardening method too. I sure want to hear or read about it. Would you mind sharing it now?

Gardening to Meet People

Have you thought of gardening as the key to socialize and make friends? Well to tell you honestly, it is so weird thinking of gardening just to expand our social circle. I didn’t actually think of it until my father had done it with flying colors. He turned out to be the garden specialist back home. He is like the “guru” when it comes to picking the right plants and flowers for our garden. Our neighbors are calling him most of the time to ask something about the best plant for their flower window boxes or container gardens. It is a bit funny how our neighbors really take gardening seriously. And making my father as the consultant is so cool. That really gave me some inspiration to write this article.

We normally like gardening alone but some are taking their chances to know their neighbors by inviting them to some community gardening. But if we have enough garden space at home it is fine to invite our friends and join us make some home improvement. In this simple way, we can connect with our neighbors and build a friendship that no money can buy.

Flower box for instance can be of great addition to our home and we can ask our neighbors to help us build it and vice versa. This is really an idea to follow because we can also exchange our home improvement ideas and compare what we know for them to create something new to their living space. You will surely realize that you might add something to spice up your home with other household developing thoughts like hanging baskets, self watering window box, raised bed garden, planter box and other environmental improvement ideas that could give flavor to our front and backyard.

Gardening is best enjoyed when you are working with your family or friends. If you are new to the community, it would be much better to make some effort and invite your neighbors or some acquaintances to join you on your gardening activities. It would be a great social therapy for both parties.

Why is Flower Box Better than Bed Garden?

Conventional gardening is famous everywhere especially in rural areas. People from the country enjoy the fun of gardening by doing it the traditional way. However, conventional gardening has some disadvantages like it will definitely make us get down and dirty or you need to spend at least an hour cultivating, watering and pampering the plants. Additionally, it will be hard to maintain a bed garden if you have a hectic schedule at work. As a solution, gardeners made some changes on this customary way of gardening. Some introduced hanging baskets, designer pots and other plant containers just to make gardening easier requiring less time and maintenance. These innovative tools made urban gardening a thing of the past and also provide options for people who want to raise a garden in their apartment, room or even window sills.

Flower box is the newest gardening trend that busy people enjoy and the best thing about container box is the lesser work that it asks for the person to do. Another advantage of a plant box is that it provides the same function just like the traditional bed garden. It gives great accent to our abode, plant our favorite veggies while giving us the happy feeling when we arrive home from work.

Most people who live in apartments and condominium units are those who make use of flower boxes as their mini garden. Unlike bed gardens, flower box, don’t occupy much of space. It can even be installed on our window ledges. Small sized garden but can really make wonders to our homes.

Speaking of small size, I think that is the only negative aspect of flower boxes. It has limit when it comes to planting something on it. It is also a bit expensive especially the iron made flower containers. We also need to take care of it from time to time to for it to last longer. But better choose a material that does not weather with different climates. We can definitely ask our local flower shop specialist for the best flowerbox materials. It would at least save you from buying a new one when it falters.

As end users, we need to choose the best option for our home to have great satisfaction. Both gardening ideas are huge home decorating contributors to our living space but we need to choose the rightful one that fit our lifestyle. Have a nice selection!

Garden with Romance and Health

Isn’t it wonderful to walk along a sunset boulevard full with flowers? Do we feel loved if we stroll beside a park full with flower box gardens? This romantic scenery is also possible at home. Some trowels, shovels, flowers and container boxes are our best friend if we plan to have a garden of love in our house. I think it will not be difficult to have one if we really want it. Who knows? Our better half might like it and will be really thrilled to have it added in your love cradle. I bet you have a great smile on your face while reading this. Well, everyone has their own way of making their relationships exciting. But to deal with flowers, there are so many benefits that we gain just to have this unique symbol of romance. It does not only stop at giving some bouquets of bloom to our loved ones, or spreading red rose petals on their pathways. It is the healthy lifestyle that we can achieve just to have it in our home.

Simple as it is, gardening, does not only give us an emotional satisfaction, but it also gives us a full body work out. Say, we are going to lift a twenty-pound flower box, then transfer it from your front yard to the backyard, which would be like 10-15 meters away. Wouldn’t it be a good early morning exercise for you to do that? The entire activity is cardio exercise mixed with muscle toning. Another one would be shoveling. If we are to shovel holes it would be like another cardiovascular exercise mixed with some muscle training. Gardening is truly a great exercise not only for our body but also for our heart.

Did I say heart? Well, when we are stressed, there are lots of negative health conditions that we acquire like heart ailment. For us to take care of for our heart we need to manage our stress. And one of the best therapies is to have flowers and do gardening at home. Gardening is the key to a healthy life according to home and gardening enthusiasts. As mentioned, exercise is good for our health because it is the best way to relieve stress. Also flowers can make the saddest soul happy. By only gazing at the beautiful creation of God, our mood suddenly changes from hopeless to positive.

Indeed, flowers and gardening have great impact to us. People who lack garden at home miss half of their lives as an individual because even just a simple mini flower box can create positive changes to our lives. It can be a holistic positive change for our health as well as our romance. Putting flower and gardening together will give us happiness and to start now is a great idea.

Gardening with Flower Box and Hanging Baskets

In gardening, we have so many options on how to use our available space at home to maximize the usage of our living space. Examples of which are window box, flower box, flower baskets and the conventional bed gardens. But nowadays, people from urban areas are more interested on modern gardening methods like flower box and hanging baskets.

One of the most popular gardening methods these days is flower box gardening. It is not like the conventional gardening style that occupies a lot of gardening space. You only need few long boxes which measures about a meter or two to accommodate several plants and some soil. Flower boxes would be easier to manage because it only has limited space for planting. Container gardening does not only cater herbal or vegetable plants. Most garden enthusiasts are also using flower plants for home decoration purposes.

The good thing about container gardening is the option of placing flower boxes indoors and outdoors. Both have great impact to our house. There are also several selections for container boxes. PVC, aluminum, wooden and iron are some of the available container types. All different material types are available in all local flower shops and can be purchased online as well.

Another urban gardening trend is the use of hanging basket. It does not occupy most of our living space because of its hanging advantage option. It is far different from flower box because it only allows single plant or flowering plant. The latter is the most ideal choice for planting because of its colorful bloom and best to have bountiful flowering plants placed on a basket. Hanging basket is usually made of iron or metal wires. The only difference of each type is the inserts. Coco liner, moss and twigs and coco fiber are some of the available insert types for hanging baskets. Good thing about inserts, they are changeable. We can definitely change it every now and then if we want to, unlike flower box, it would be a lot of work and time knowing that it is a lot bigger and has lots of contents.

Take a look at some available flower box and hanging baskets online to have some time visualizing about how you can develop your home by adding these simple gardening structures. I bet it would be fun!

Gardening with Kids

Creating fun garden with our kids means involving them to all stuff like the evolution and design of the garden and working together to produce something unique. Introducing them to something new like gardening would be a good start for their formative years. Teaching children how to garden from age 5 to 10 will definitely give them the idea and interest about nature. We can let them grow flowers and plants do some little gardening on a pot, mini flower box or we can let them garden with us on flower beds.

Gardening can be a learning experience to children. Everything that they do with some explanation could be a gained knowledge. Introduce them to all the tools and plants that they use for gardening: from shovels to wheelbarrows and from vegetable plants to flowering plants. It would be great to let the kids choose what plants, flowering plants and what container box are they going to use. They can have hanging baskets, window boxes or simply bed gardens. But we need to make sure that they choose the right thing. We can give them several options as not to spoil the garden design.

Children are fond of playing with dirt or mud. It would be of great interest for them if you garden together. We do not need to worry because we are also supervising them while doing the job. Getting dirty for children is a great learning experience and they will surely treasure it until they grow up.

We can also give our children credit for helping us do the gardening. Make them feel that they are part of the gardening activity. We can give them their own flower box garden with their chosen design. If they ask for their favorite cartoon character as their choice, we can either have the box painted or buy a figurine and let it stand beside the mini container box for your kids.

Children will be very happy about involving them in an activity like gardening. They will be pleased learning and at the same time playing. I hope that every parent involve their children for interesting and educating activity like gardening.

What is flower therapy?

Flower therapy is similar to physical therapy. It is a new idea that is becoming important by utilizing the energy flowers give and the vitamin D that is being activated by the sun. Flower therapy nowadays is being used to aid Alzheimer’s patients and it helps promote the growth of bones and muscles.

Everybody that has a garden or has walked into a garden knows the feeling that you get when you see flowers and smell their fragrances. It makes us feel good inside and out. These days, doctors are realizing how good flower therapy is.

The sun is a greatest source of vitamin D that is important to our bones and skin. By going out and gardening first thing in the morning can be of a great way to exercise while exposing yourself to the sun. Some people are afraid to expose themselves on the sun during day time because of skin cancer. We do have limitation but 7-9 in the morning exposure is not bad. The UV rays of the sun are still helpful during those hours of exposure. It is not only about the scent s nor the smell and energy that flower therapy gives, it is also the time that we spend on taking care of the flowers.

Gardening can be boring at times but we did not realize the little time that we spend plowing, pulling the weeds, fixing a flower box, shoveling and pushing the wheelbarrow makes us healthy already. Doing all those gardening stuff is a good exercise to our bones and muscles. Reaching for hanging baskets is already a good stretching for our muscles.

It is also introduced to science that flower therapy can aid Alzheimer’s patients. Just the act of walking around flowers, sparks the memories, sparks their brains, the smell the thoughts and all the memories that they can remember everything. There are lots of studies telling that some elderly passed, away can still remember everything that they had forgotten. They can even remember how to tie their shoes, the last time they hugged somebody and those little things are crystal clear in their minds. An afternoon in the garden is like they had come home. They come back with better attitude and they are using every part of their brain.

Whether we need flower therapy or not, flowers and plants are always part of our lives. Whether we put them in pots, planters or flowerboxes, so long as we have some bouquets of it inside our home it would bring happiness in our hearts and happiness is therapy.

Make Kids Love Gardening

Gardening is the least activity that children would want to spend for their available time. They lack interest when they hear the word “gardening” because hard work and boring impression are already instilled in their minds. But we can change their belief about gardening. Why not do something very interesting to make kids love the thought of gardening. Here are some tips that I want to share to you on how gardening can be a very interesting pastime for children.

Children normally like to visualize stuff, so we need to make sure that the garden we are creating doesn’t only include green leafy vegetables. We may also add color to catch their attention. It would be ideal to have flowering plants that go with different colors. We can also create a flower box or window box on our window sills if we do not have enough space for a bed garden at home.

Children as we all know are fond of games or want to play around. Why not make gardening a very playful time to them and at the same time give them some information about plants so that they will learn something from you as well as from the activity. Also make them play with dirt because kids do love to play with it. Getting dirty is an integral part during their early years.

We need to make sure that our child’s work is satisfactory. Supervision is a must. We need to check their work from time to time. If we are to fix their work, we need to do it discreetly as not to discourage them for not doing a good job. If we are to build or install custom window boxes, we need to ensure our youngster’s safety. The use of tools like hammer, concrete nails and other stuff that can harm them, should be assisted all the time.

If we only have one child, try to pair them up with their neighborhood friends. They need to share their gardening experience with someone of the same age. I am certain that they will enjoy their gardening if they are with the same age group.

I hope the above simple tips are somewhat helpful to you. Considering that they involve the welfare of our children. Let us encourage and involve our kids on our gardening activities. With this, we are promoting green living and healthy lifestyle to our family.
